An essential voice in the roda, the atabaque is arguably the most difficult capoeira instrument to build. Manufacturing an atabaque is a real work of art: from the choice of the right materials to the highly skilled assembly that requires several days. Hand-crafted by expert hands in Brazil, the drums on sale here are made of wood, goat skin and natural rope, height approx. 41 in. (104 cm); diameter on top 11 in (28 cm). Each piece is unique, so variations may occur.
